Our
Story

Over 40 years of Turkish specialties in Germany.
Get to know the great history of a family business.

1979

The Beginning

The year is 1979: YAYLA was founded in Datteln and, with just a few employees, began selling individual products that should not be missing from Turkish cuisine. Starting with Tavuk Salam and Süzme Yoğurt, the company continued to grow until it finally moved to the home of the shareholder family in Krefeld in the 1980s. To this day, YAYLA is based in the “city like velvet and silk” on the Lower Rhine and offers its around 80 employees a familiar and pleasant working atmosphere in a modern new building.

Environment

Dairy products are the most important part of our product range, which is why we only use premium quality from recognised, certified, ecologically sustainable European farms. We guarantee species-appropriate husbandry with spacious, clean stables, plenty of grazing time, sufficient water and constant medical checks on the cows, traceability of all raw materials, short transport routes and therefore absolute freshness.

2019

A milestone

Yayla celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2019. In the 4 decades that YAYLA has stood for high-quality and traditional Turkish food, a sales and representative structure has been established that extends far beyond Krefeld and Germany and now spans all continents. Despite its global orientation and steady growth, YAYLA holds on to its traditional values and remains a family business with a heart and passion for Turkish cuisine.

Connecting the world

We have always wanted to share the many pleasures and flavours of Turkish cuisine with people in Germany. In the beginning, these people were mainly Turkish citizens and families who had moved to Germany. For them, YAYLA also represented a piece of home in a foreign country and their loyalty helped us to continue to grow. As a family business, we attach great importance to tradition and consistency, but we also encourage innovation and international structures.

2023

The journey continues

Today, 44 years after the company was founded in 1979, YAYLA has branches all over the world, from the USA to China and Australia, and a well-developed distribution network. However, our philosophy has not changed in all this time. We want to connect cultures and create common ground: What better way to do this than at a well-laid table?
