Künefe

Crispy pastry threads, cheese, and sugar syrup create a surprisingly delicious taste experience.
Ingredients
250g | Kadayif |
150g | butter |
125g | mozarella |
2 cups | sugar |
2 cups | water |
1/4 | lemon juice |
Preparation
Put the sugar and water in a small pan and bring to the boil. Then simmer over a medium heat for 5 minutes. Add the lemon juice at the end and mix well. Leave to cool.
Preheat the oven to 200°C top/bottom heat
Pull apart the pastry strands and pull into small pieces by hand. Melt the butter and add to the dough strands. Mix everything together well.
Take small cake tins or a large baking tray, pour in a layer of the dough and butter mixture approx. 1-2 cm thick and press flat. Tear the mozzarella into pieces and spread evenly. Then cover with another layer of the dough threads and press flat.
Bake for approx. 10-15 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Then remove from the oven and pour sugar syrup directly over them. Leave the syrup to soak in for a while and serve the Künefe lukewarm and enjoy with a Turkish tea.
